This is my first year at St. Pius X Catholic School and my fifth year teaching middle school math.  Before teaching,
I was a software engineer, mostly in the telecommunications industry.  I've worked with computers for a long time so
it's only natural that I would want to connect with my students online.

I became an engineer because I loved math.  I asked my Calculus teacher in high school (Mr. Dunn) how I could use
this every day and he suggested engineering.  Funny that he didn't mention teaching!  I think it was a bold suggestion,
though, and I'm thankful for my engineering experiences.

Why did I leave engineering for teaching?  I love math.  I still wanted to do it every day.  Plus, I love
to explain things.  I taught evening classes last fall at Anne Arundel Community College.  It was a lot of fun,
but I missed working with kids.  I spent a year discerning a possible call to religious life and spent a month in a convent
in CT, but I realized my place was here teaching and I couldn't be happier about it.

I hope I can help you this year to advance in terms of math so you can reach your goals and I hope I can bring some insight
into the spiritual lives of my sixth grade religion class.  Of course, I'm leaving that in the capable hands of our Lord
and the Holy Spirit.  May God bless us all with a wonderful and fruitful year.
