Virtue:  Holiness in Action

April 13        Lesson 1 – Virtue Explained

What is virtue?  What are the moral and theological virtues discussed in this book?  How necessary is God’s grace for us to understand and practice these virtues?

April 20       Lesson 2 – Wisdom

How do we gain wisdom and how can we apply it to the decisions in our lives?  Once we know what to do, how do we follow through with wisdom?

April 27        Lesson 3 – Justice

Does our country uphold justice and the inalienable rights given us by God?  How are we challenged to live out Jesus’ standard of justice?  How is generosity related to justice?

May 4         Lesson 4 – Courage

How can the virtue of courage help us to endure suffering?  How is endurance related to courage?  How can we be women of courage like Queen Esther?

May 11          Lesson 5 – Self-Control

How do we moderate things that are good but have potential to become evil when abused?  How did Anna the prophetess model the virtue of self-control?

May 18         Lesson 6 – Faith

How does faith allow us to continue to believe even what is difficult to understand?  How do we nourish and protect our faith to be women of faith like Elizabeth?

May 25        Lesson 7 – Hope

What is the object of our hope?  What are the fruits of hope?  Against all signs of hope, how did the Maccabean mother remain firm while her sons were tortured?

June 1         Lesson 8 – Love

What does scripture tell us about the virtue of love?  How does God show His love for us and how can we show our love for Him and for others?  How is our Blessed Mother a model of the virtue of love?

June 8         Back-up date for schedule change or possible evening for closing social gathering.
